Everything's coming up roses at Rutland Garden Centre!
/David Austin Roses have just arrived into our newly laid-out rose area. This much-loved rose grower has never been stocked at Rutland Garden Centre before, so Katey, an avid rose fan, was keen to offer them to customers.
The new stock includes some of David Austin’s newest roses - Roald Dahl and Charles Darwin. There are a range of climbers, ramblers and shrub roses stocked – something for every garden and preference! There are all the old favourites too, including Darcey Bussell and Feliicite Perpetue – one of their oldest roses. One of horticultural specialists, Will, recommends the Scepter’d Isle variety – which is a very pretty pink medium shrub rose that he thinks would look particularly great against the limestone houses in Rutland.
The David Austin Roses join Rutland Garden Centre’s wide selection of other roses – notably our superb selection of standard roses. We have the Peter Beale and Wharton Roses also in stock – having offered these ranges for a good number of years due to their quality and variety. Whartons Roses offer a selection of great value family favourites including fantastic gift roses to celebrate and commemorate a special point in time – from anniversaries to memorable occasions. Peter Beale are Chelsea Gold Medal winning world leaders in classic roses – and we have an abundant selection for you to choose from.
Three tips for planting roses:
1. Roses are great to plant now, in Autumn, rather than in the Summer when they are in bloom. Or in early Springtime.
2. We recommend micro riser fungi – to put into the planting hole – encourages root growth meaning rose will establish faster. Or bone meal is a good addition to your planting preparations.
3. Thinking about a climbing rose? Why not look at the arches we have in store – both wooden and metal to create a feature for your garden. Or we have wall trellis for training your rose against.
